Bruce Bowen to retire!

Texas News - April 23, 2009 It can be argued that Bruce Bowen was a great player or a really dirty player, but either way he defended some of the greatest players in the game for many years and did a amazing job. Bruce hounded many a offensive player all game never letting them get in a groove.

This goes to show all the kids out their if you don’t have the offensive skills out there and don’t think you will ever make it playing basketball, try really honing part of your game like Bruce did! He is a testament to the art of defense in the NBA, he stuck his man and made him work for every shot.

Bowen signed with the Spurs in the summer of 2001 and wound up making the all-defensive first team five straight times between 2003-04 and 2007-08. Developing a reliable 3-point shot from the corners along the way, complementing his ability to guard players of all sizes and offsetting his struggles at the free throw line, Bowen was a fixture in the starting lineup as San Antonio won championships in 2003, 2005 and 2007.

Here is a Big Pump Fake to Salute to a classy player who did not need to be in the limelight all the time. He did the job no one else wanted to due and took everyone head on. He was not well liked by many players in the league, but to be honest that’s why we like him more!
